In just a few more days, we’ll be celebrating Christmas! For the holiday season, we’ve been rounding up the best ads, campaigns, and ideas this year. We at Pepper Virtual Assistants can’t wait to see what the New Year has in store for businesses and marketing!

Before we settle in for the holiday buzz, we’ve got one more holiday-inspired series to share with you! Today, we’ll be looking at the best business-to-consumer holiday ads for 2016. Let’s take a look!

Spotify – #2016Wrapped

What better way to celebrate the holidays and end the year than with an all-in recap of the year in music? Each year, Spotify rounds up the year’s top music in playlists and even creates a couple of Christmas playlists for users to listen to.

But what makes the music streaming site’s holiday ads one of our favorites this year is their #2016Wrapped campaign. Essentially, Spotify creates charts and social media posts surrounding the different top music trends and songs this year. The big takeaway? Create a campaign that not only advertises your brand and services but is also relatable to your customers. You can also tap into pop culture to reach other people, too!

Coca-Cola – A Coke for Christmas

For many years, Coca-Cola has been the leading brand when it came to holiday ads that touch the hearts of millions. However, this year, Coke took a lighter and festive approach for their holiday campaign.

The days leading up to the holidays can be stressful. There are hurried days at work, crowds at the mall, party preparations, and Christmas decorating to name a few. However, Coke reminds us that even a small surprise—in this case, a bottle of Coke—can brighten up someone’s busy day.

EDEKA – Time

In 2015, EDEKA pulled on millions of heartstrings with their Christmas ad, #heimkommen. For their Christmas ad this year, the German grocery brand is tugging even harder with a reminder that the holidays are about family time.

The ad highlights the frenzy leading up to the holidays. Hectic days and busy schedules can keep us from remembering the most important thing of all during the most wonderful time of the year. It reminds us that we need to take a step back, look at what we’re missing, and enjoy the season with the ones we love the most.

H&M – Come Together

2016 has been a tumultuous year. There’s a lot of drama, issues, and conflicts particularly after the US Presidential Elections. For their holiday ad, H&M reminds us that diversity does not mean division.

Going home for the holidays can be one of the most grueling times to travel. In the ad, we see that a train’s arrival is delayed and disrupts everyone’s Christmas plans. However, Ralph, the head conductor, tries to make the most out of the situation. Not only did it show that ruined plans don’t mean ruined holidays but it brought together people of different backgrounds and showed that we can celebrate regardless of our circumstances.

Samsung – Unwrap the Feels

This year hasn’t been the best for Samsung. They faced multiple issues with their phones and countless backlashes from their users. However, for the holidays, the brand is seeking to bring some festive cheer with their ad.

We’re anticipating that virtual reality will be playing a bigger role in marketing next year especially for businesses who want to give their customers a unique experience. In their holiday ad, families are seen giving their relatives the Gear VR for Christmas. They quickly try on the headset and experience virtual reality as their loved ones laugh and watch for their reactions.

This year has been a phenomenal year for ads and marketing campaigns. We’ve seen a tremendous growth of ads, particularly on social media. When creating your own holiday ad, remember that the best ones are those that speak to your customers. Timeliness and relevance are the two indispensable elements that will make your campaigns resonate with your target audience.
